Direttore d'Orchestra
"It was a wonderful experience that helped me to get to know Italian opera better and more closely. 3 weeks of intensive work (every day!) with different singers and teachers, experienced pianists, wonderful musicians of the orchestra and choir and, of course, the exceptional conductor Marco Guidarini brought me very close not only to convincing conducting, but also to the thought of Italian opera in general. And of course the performance itself that I conducted at the Teatro Mancinelli was a unique experience that I will always remember."

Spazio Musica, Orvieto, Opera and especially Puccini - are one and the same thing for me. In the three consecutive summers of 1996-1998 I was literally born into this environment as an opera conductor. Under the paternal guidance of Maestro Bruno Rigacci, as severe and rigorous as he was full of love for music and for us, the students, and under the attentive, faithful and full-of-conviction artistic direction of Gabriella Ravazzi, the wonderful universe of opera opened up and revealed itself to me. So many unforgettable moments: the first rehearsals in the hall, the first orchestra rehearsal... and then the image of Suor Angelica lying on the floor, which I saw when I entered the orchestra during a rehearsal, or Butterfly saying: "go, I command you!", a moment that made me cry when I conducted him for the first time, and then the enchanting prelude of "Tabarro" shared with the attentive musicians of the orchestra...
A recent visit confirmed to me that Spazio Musica is still a place where opera is respected, loved, and transmitted with so much wisdom and experience, where young people - like me at the time (23 years old) - have the opportunity to learn and take their first steps in an absolutely professional, rewarding and respectful context for music and theater. I consider myself lucky to have started there, and everything I learned at Spazio Musica has accompanied me and still accompanies me wherever I go. Thank you!

"Regarding my experience at the Mancinelli competition in Orvieto, although many years have passed (it was 2005) I remember very well that on the jury was maestro Maurizio Arena, whom I greatly esteemed, and maestro Aldo Ceccato. I remember very well a long and interesting discussion with maestro Ceccato's wife. In truth more than a discussion it was a monologue by the lady focused mainly on “extramusical” aspects let's say, such as discipline, the strict rules of life to be followed, not to smoke, not to drink, to dress appropriately for the role and to find a willing and understanding life partner since the life of a conductor is not so simple. Personally, I am very attached to the Mancinelli because it was in fact my last competition, after I had already won first prize at the 1997 Capuana and first prize at the 1993 Bottega at the Teatro Comunale di Treviso, and I remember as if it were yesterday that maestro Donato Renzetti (whose pupil I was never but who during his time in Treviso used to repeat to me, “Scarano, write on your resume only those competitions where you win first prize”) told me, “the Mancinelli you can enter because you won second prize with first and third unassigned"

"I am happy to share my experience at Spazio Musica with you. It has been a privilege and an honor to be part of such a stimulating and creative environment. I have had the opportunity to meet extraordinary artists, learn from highly qualified teachers and participate in high-impact musical performances.
The beauty of Spazio Musica lies in its ability to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for music lovers. I particularly appreciated the warm and familiar atmosphere that permeates the lessons and performances. They were truly transformative experiences that helped me grow as a musician."
